A Letter From The Publisher

Dear Fellow Travel Industry Professional:

Last year, as I recall, the biggest problem for our trade was demand – not enough of it. This year, we face the same problem, that is, demand except backwards – there is too much demand and not enough capacity. I suppose the good news is that people want to travel again. I personally consider this to be one of the most optimistic signs of the times. Recalling the paralysis that seemed to have taken hold of the entire human race after September 11, it is exceedingly gratifying to find that people are, once again, on the go.

One of the best means of accommodating your clients’ travel needs is with a reliable air consolidator. Of course, this is why you use Moffit’s. All of us at Moffit’s are so pleased to be able to offer this latest edition replete with old friends and some new ones as well. You will find a new appendix of Airlines by Code. I am confident that this will be a big time saver for you (it is for me!) There are new advertisers and many returning advertisers; suggesting, I believe, the value of Moffit’s to the travel trade - suppliers and agents alike.

As always, we have strived to provide the most accurate, up-to-date air consolidator information available for you. I hope you will pay particular attention to this year’s articles in the front section of Moffit’s as well as the United States Air Consolidators Association (USACA) section following it. There have been some additions to USACA and they are worth noting. USACA President Fernando Virgolino’s letter to the travel community is featured on page 20. The accompanying photo was taken in Tallin, Estonia this past June. It is fascinating for me to contemplate what that part of the world has so recently undergone – and how vitally they have embraced change and opportunity. I cannot help but contrast the progress taking place in Eastern Europe, for instance, with the chaos being perpetuated in so many other places.

I offer my sincerest wishes for a safe and successful 2005.
